- While Joel gives Ed golf lessons, the Indian warns him Adam is around, the never actually seen monster-prankster, blamed for all kinds of weirdness for some 15 years. Passing the night in his car in the woods after diagnosing a park ranger Burns, Joel is apparently robbed, actually taken in, by very human loner Vietnam vet Adam. Chris is delighted his instinctive sculptural inspiration fits the astronomical phenomenon Aurora Borealis (northern light). Chris accepts help from lost motor-biker Bernard, and discovers they share a lot, even an identity essential.—KGF Vissers
- The moonlight is making everyone in Cicely go crazy. No one is getting any sleep. Joel is giving Ed pointers on golf when they come across a giant track of a barefoot human. Ed says it belongs to Adam, a mystery figure that no one has ever seen. Bernard, a black man, rides into town on a new Harley and asks where he is. In interacting with Chris, there seem to be an unbelievable number of coincidences. Despite Bernard professing that he knows nothing about playing bridge, he and Chris cream Maggie and Holling with brilliant play as if they can see each other's cards. They even find out they were born on the same day and carry the same picture as their father. He agrees to help Chris work on a large, metal sculpture of the aurora borealis. Chris is so focused on getting it ready for the upcoming display that he tapes his "Chris in the Morning" program to air in his absence. Maurice is not happy about this. Joel is sent to a remote fire lookout to treat Ranger Burns. On the way home, his truck stalls and he can't get it restarted. As he tries to sleep in the cab, someone outside keeps disturbing him. He finally gets out of the truck to interact with a man who is living entirely off the grid. He follows him to a rustic cabin where he is treated to gourmet cooking, as good as in the fanciest of NYC restaurants. The man is resistant to questioning but has bare feet and admits to being Adam. Joel awakes in his hut to find himself alone. He stumbles back to his truck and returns to town. When he tells everybody about meeting Adam, no one will believe him. Ed and Maggie accompany him to try to find Adam's hut. All they find is a garlic press.—Garon Smith
- The Northern Lights and the moon induced by them cause dreaming to intensify among the residents.
Dr. Fleischman hears about "Adam", the local version of the Bigfoot monster. When his truck breaks down one night on a lonely road, he encounters the mysterious creature, who turns out to be an odd, hostile hermit living deep in the woods. However, nobody in Cicely believes him.
Bernard shows up. He sold his condo in Portland, Oregon, bought a motorcycle and rode north without quite knowing why. He and Chris find themselves strangely in tune, even sharing the same dream. They finally learn that they share the same father and the same birthday. Satisfied, Bernard returns to Portland.
