Its a clip show -- no need to watch it

There's a small plot around which the clips are spun, but it's essentially a clip show ... not worth watching.

As is often the case with clip shows, the clips start out being "sort of" related to the "plot", but then take off in all directions.

Flashback shows tend to just lay there.

Warning: Spoilers
Not even a season finale, this episode really seems desperate to get some nostalgia not even halfway through the series run. The flashbacks fly around the loose plot of Fran quitting in a huff after Maxwell catches Fran smoking in some strange effort to get Maggie to quit smoking. The individual flashbacks themselves are funny as outtakes but there are far too many which indicates that a good majority of the work for this episode was done in the editing room, not on the soundstage. At least we get some new footage of Grandma Yetta and Sylvia (and neighbor Roger Clinton), but there's a sense of desperation in the episode as a whole.
