It's Taperoni not Maceroni
sol-kay22 July 2013
****SPOILERS**** Going into his neighborhood pool room to cool off and shoot the breeze Charlie Taperoni, Lou Antonio, finds his brother Cramine and his two friends George & Lester, Johnny Seven with Eugene Roche & Ron Wayand, working over this guy high school math teacher Victor Clay. The three work the guy over so hard until he drops dead from a sudden heart attack. It turned out that Carmine a cab driver by profession was doing together with George & lester some moonlighting as enforcers for the neighborhood bookie. That in teaching Clay a lesson in paying up his losing bets, that he lost at the racetrack, on time. Panic stricken in now having to cover up Clay's death the three bumbling part time hoods try to dispose of his body! And at the same time get Charlie and eye witness to all this to skip out of town.

More like a comedy then anything else despite a man being beaten to death we get to see Charlie try to put Clay's death behind him. Charlie tries to romance his neighbor who he's been keeping an eye on at her apartment and at work at the cafeteria the pretty Gladys, Carol Eve Rossen, whom he got the hots for. Meanwhile the cops lead by Let. Adam Flint, Paul Burke, get the lowdown to who's responsible for Clay's death through the observations, as well as hading him a few bucks, of the homeless drunk Arnold, David Hooks, who witnessed Carmine George & Charlie dumping Clay's body in an alleyway.

****SPOILERS**** It's Charlie by refusing to skip town gets worked over by Geroge & Lester, his brother Carmine stood out of all this, and later in still refusing to get out of town is set up to be whacked by in hit & run by a hired top mob hit-man. The hit-man who looked, with dark sun glasses on in broad daylight, and acted like he was totally blind and needs a seeing eye dog more then he needs a gun to do the hit-job on Charlie! The hit that was conducted in full sight of a police stake out of Charlie's apartment turned out to be a total disaster! With the luckless Carmine who was thought by his fiends Geogre & Leater to be selling them out to the police getting shot and killed. That as the what seemed like legally blind hit-man blindly stumbling out of the getaway car, that smashed into a number of garbage cans, gets gunned down in a police crossfire. As for George & Lester they both meekly gives themselves up to the police as accessories to murder. The incredible and mind boggling "Naked City" episode ends as a tearful Charlie is seen holding his now dead bother Carmine in his arms as he's being comforted by Gladys who earlier had, in how crazy he was acting, walked out on him.
