Lt. Mike Parker: You got the gun?
Det. Frank Arcaro: Yeah.
Lt. Mike Parker: This gun was fired.
Det. Frank Arcaro: Yes, sir.
Lawyer: The fact that the gun was fired has no relevancy. When a permit is issued, it is assumed that the weapon will be fired. That is the purpose of the weapon.
Lt. Mike Parker: It is not assumed that this gun will be used irresponsibly.
Lawyer: That judgment is not yours to make, Lieutenant. The judgment is the responsibility was made by the authorities issuing the permit.

In the world of Ingmar Bergman, Harriet Andersson became an international star after headlining the great director's first American hit on the arthouse circuit: "The Naked Night". Now another member of his amazing troupe, Ulla Jacobsson, made her American debut in this Naked City episode, but her career here never took off.
She's cast opposite another actor with that distinctive ss in his name, David Janssen, playing a real cad for a change. The tired storyline hurts the segment, but the acting by both of them, plus Constance Ford as Dave's mean but pitiable wife, is excellent.
There's zero subtlety here, and the police work is poor, all due to bad writing. How the triangular story is resolved is not credible, lacking the quality of the material for top Swedish directors like Bergman, Alf Sjoberg and Arne Mattsson.
