Jim says, "I feel good...and I knew that I would", which is a line from "I Got You (I Feel Good)" by James Brown and the Famous Flames.
The title is based on the song "Soul Man" written by Isaac Hayes and David Porter in 1967 for Atlantic Records.
There are two 1967 versions of the Sam and Dave song. The mono version starts out "Comin' to YOU, on a dusty road.." and the stereo starts out, "Comin' to YA, on a dusty road...". The version used here is the stereo, but it is a version that took the two stereo channels and compressed them in to mono, which is the same version used on Atlantic's Golden Oldies 45's.
This episode, in one way or another features three songs, two from 1967, the title tune and"Reach Out I'll Be There", which was a hit for the Four Tops in 1967 and "The Lady is a Tramp", by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, which was written for the musical "Babes in Arms" in 1937, thirty years earlier.
