Ross Martin's final sitcom performance
kevinolzak17 October 2016
"Mork and the Bum Rap" casts Ross Martin as well dressed derelict Godfrey, Artemus Gordon from THE WILD WILD WEST in what turned out to be his final sitcom performance. Mindy needs charitable donations to build a children's hospital, so Mork heads over to Remo's restaurant for a mini telethon, meeting a man named Godfrey, who claims to be a professional. After conniving a quarter off of Mork he promises to teach him everything he knows about 'fundraising,' for a percentage. Mindy objects to Mork's new panhandling ways at 'Bowery Brothers,' though Mork considers panhandling to be what nurses do in the hospital. She also doesn't care for 'beverage in a bag!' Mork tries to undo what he's done by returning to the bus station and giving his money away, proving a big disappointment to his mentor Godfrey: "it's people like you that give bums a bad name!" His love for children was the reason why he became a bum, but his donation is just enough for Mindy to make her pledge. Mork thanks him for his generosity: "can I walk you to the gutter?"
