Pete's 1950 Mercury Woody is wrecked at the end of this episode. Linc makes a fitting tribute at the end by saying "Goodbye, old paint."
Character actor and singer Sheb Wooley, playing country star Wild Bill Hannacheck, performs his 1969 single "I Remember Loving You." Wooley's most popular recording, however, was his 1958 novelty song "The Purple People Eater."
Both of this episode's leading ladies were married to African-American celebrities. Series co-star Peggy Lipton (Julie) was married from 1974-90 to composer Quincy Jones, and actress Tyne Daly (Dolores) was married from 1966-90 to Georg Stanford Brown, star of The Rookies (1972).
The song that Julie sings is "Now That Everything's Been Said", co-written by the legendary Carole King. The song was the title track from an album by The City, a 3-piece band that featured King, released in 1968. Actress Peggy Lipton's version is on the expanded version of her self-titled 1968 solo album, released in 2014.
