Paul Benedict, who portrays the minister, would appear five days later on All In The Family in "The Jeffersons Move Up", the pilot for the spin-off The Jeffersons, as Harry Bentley.
Vivian begins wearing a cast in this episode. In real life, Rue McClanahan had to use it and crutches after she fell through a glass door in August 1974. She nearly bled to death, and the first person she called was her boss, Norman Lear. Rue was back on the set 1 week later, and the writers explained her character's situation by saying that Arthur (Conrad Bain) had backed over her foot with the car. By November, she was walking normally again.
