- TriviaDue to Mary Tyler Moore having a flare-up of her diabetes, during a good portion of filming this season of The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970), During the times Ms Moore wasn't feeling terrific, efforts were made to make her workload easier; one way was to lessen the amount of time she needed to be in makeup and hair, by having her wear a wig. Although this was kept quiet, the wig she wore (as seen in this episode), wasn't very close to Mary's usual hair style; a variation on a simple, side-parted hair style. Her eyes were also extremely sensitive at this time, and in several episodes, Ms Moore couldn't wear the false eyelashes (most actresses wear).
- GoofsAlthough Lou tells Mary that his relationship with Veronica Ludlow took place during World War II before he met his wife, Edie, earlier in the series he made it clear that he knew Edie before going off to war.

Thirty Years of Pain
There are two plot elements here. The first one involves Ted insisting that he be given a bachelor party. He's already married but that doesn't stop him from whining and complaining until Mary relents. Once again, they are at her apartment. Su Ann is at her worst. Lou is upset because a woman who sent him a Dear John letter during World War II wants to see him. She broke his heart and even sold his engagement ring to go on a honeymoon with another guy. He starts off by not wanting to go, but Mary tells him that it's been a long time and to accept the adventure. After much cajoling in Mary's bedroom, Lou heads off for a restaurant where she is, with striking results.
