- It's the wedding anniversary of George and Mildred Roper (Brian Murphy and Yootha Joyce) so the three flatmaters Robin (Richard O'Sullivan), Chrissy (Paula Wilcox) and Jo (Sally Thomsett) decide to throw a party in their flat in their honour.
Robin has also invited Franz Wasserman (Dennis Waterman), a German philosophy student who has just graduated and who has been his friend for some time. George starts obsessing with it, talking about the London blitz and making racist comments about Germans.
At first, George approves of Franz, as he thinks he is a doctor in Medicine, and makes him perform a health check-out in the spurr of the moment, and doesn't seem to understand he's a doctor in philosophy. Furthermore, when the dinner approaches, things go from bad to worst, and George kept making racist remarks to Franz, although he hadn't even been born back then.
The three flatmates have to solve another situation: they had bought a pair of cufflinks for George, and one of then is missing. After several changes of position, it ends up in Franz's food.
Franz ends up leaving the dinner really angry and giving out a Nazi salute.
