They only made six episodes...and three of them were set abroad?!
"Madigan" was a pretty good movie which starred Richard Widmark as a New York City cop. A few years later, the network approved a TV version...also starring Widmark. What is so very odd about the shows is that they only made six episodes...and three of the six were set in Europe! Why? I have no idea...but this Portuguese one followed one in London and the one after is set in Naples! So much for him being a New York cop!
The story begins at the airport. Madigan is about to take a prisoner back to the States. However, the prisoner is freed when a group of crooks attack Madigan. Oddly, the prisoner was NOT responsible for this...but he happily follows his new friends. It seems a British gentleman crook has just recruited the escapee to work for him...and Madigan is going to be staying in Portugal for some time...at least until he gets his prisoner.
This is only an okay episode. Madigan catches the escapee awfully fast and much of the rest of the show is about some plot which, to me, was unnecessary. Overall, the show simply looked like an excuse for Widmark and the crew to enjoy some time in sunny Portugal!
