This has an interesting choice of actress for the leading lady, as in the season three premiere, Lost Love: Part 1 (1987) that also featured Elyssa Davalos, she played an old love-interest of Mac's; and yet is this story, she plays someone whom Mac finds exceptionally incompatible/disagreeable and whom he dislikes working alongside, and thus he feels anything but affection for her.
The lobby with the giant pendulum is in the HSBC Canada Building in Vancouver, Canada.
This marked the first of six appearance of Elyssa Davalos as Nikki Carpenter. Previously she appeared in episodes Lost Love: Part 1 (1987) and Lost Love: Part 2 (1987) but as Lisa, a Soviet agent.
When MacGyver looks up Nikki's information on the computer, her date of birth is given the British way, date then month then year, which is common in Canada, where the show was made, but of course, this is meant to be on a Phoenix computer in the USA, so unfortunately the date should have been month then date then year.
The beginning of this has MacGyver climbing up to enter the window of a mansion owned by an Arab man hosting a party where Mac steals data from his computer, which closely resembles the movie True Lies (1994) that came out seven years later.
