That headline sums up this story which has a big twist near the end, one could almost see coming as something about "Amy Pryor" (Peggy Weber) didn't feel right. It didn't feel right to me and it didn't feel kosher to "Det. Frank Ballinger (Lee Marvin) who has to solve the case of a burglary/assault which could turn into murder on two counts - the victim and the killer.
The man who could be the worst shape, in this strange case, could be the burglar because the husband came home sooner than expected, got into a tussle with the stranger in his house and the family dog got involved. After the husband was KO'd, the dog dog took over, took a few bites and the man fled the scene. Trouble was, the dog was diagnosed with rabies so the criminal could die a brutal death, worse than the guy in the hospital (who at least was recovering).
Who was the uninvited guest at the family home? Well, ask the wife. There is something she isn't saying, and the dog can't talk.
