- TriviaPart of the background music includes a few bars of "We Sail the Ocean Blue" from the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta H.M.S. Pinafore. In the longer excerpts, there is a noticeable musical flub (wrong notes) on the first note of the fifth full bar, where, if someone were singing, they would be saying the word "sober" (. . . "We're sober men and true . . .).
- GoofsIt is obvious that Beaver deliberately tilts himself to tip the boat.
- Quotes
Chester Anderson: Now all we gotta do is get some skin to cover the boat.
Theodore Cleaver: There's no animals around here got that much skin.
Wally Cleaver: The Eskimos use seal skin. What are we gonna use?
Chester Anderson: Hey, my father's got an old raccoon coat. Maybe we could use that.
Tooey Brown: Aw, cut it out. Who wants a fuzzy canoe?

Trying To Cover Up A Wet Beaver
Chester and Tooney come over and work with Wally in the garage, using barrel staves to build a kayak. They saw this Eskimo kayak in a recent movie and thought it would be cool to build one. June is worried the boys would get hurt so Ward tells them not to do anything irresponsible, such as try it out with him there to supervise.
When the boat is done, Beaver and Wally get up early in the morning bring it over to Miller's Pond for a trial. Ward and June don't know about this; they thought the boys were just bringing over to Chester's garage.
So....when they try it out and it's too small for the older boys to sit in it, Beaver gets to be the first test pilot. Of course, the boat tips over immediately and Beaver gets soaked.
Now, they have to get Beaver back home and dried off without their parents knowing about it, because they know they are going to get bawled out. Tooey devises a plan and imitates a woman on the phone asking for Mrs. Cleaver, trying to draw June away from the kitchen so the boys can sneak in. That part is very funny.
Of course, the boys are in for it when their scheme is discovered. The moral lesson here was it's better to tell your parents what you did wrong than trying to cover it up. That makes it only worse because your sins will find you out, sooner or later.
