During the trial and subsequent death sentence hearing, the defendant is seen wearing an earring in his left ear. This would not be allowed. Defendants are not given something that could harm them. They are allowed to wear necklaces with religious symbols however.
At the arraignment hearing the court officer fails to read the charges the defendants are facing, which is required since a defendant has a constitutional right to be told what the charges against them are. The charges being read aloud at arrangement is so that a defendant can't claim they weren't told what they were being charged with.
