This episode appears to be based on the 1991 Mike Tyson rape accusation case. In 1991, Tyson was convicted of raping Desiree Washington, a contestant for Miss Black America, in an Indianapolis hotel room and served three years of a six year sentence. Tyson made headlines again when he bit off part of Evander Holyfield's ear in a fight. In a 2003 interview with FOX's The Pulse, Tyson denounced both Washington and her mother, stating that now he 'really did want to rape her'.
On the DVD release of this season there were several deleted scenes. One of them Briscoe and Logan discuss missing Donald Cragen and how Van Buren got promoted. One of the other scenes Van Buren is at Stones office discussing the arrest, she asks to say "hello" to Paul Robinette, Stone answers that he took a job uptown at Park avenue at Woodward Martin and Schwartz - loyal and much better dressed opposition.
In the scene with Julia Wood (Lucy Deakins ) and her father Michael Wood (Alex Wipf ) meeting with ADA Stone (Michael Moriarty ) in his office (~36m), Michael Wood can be seen wearing the wine-, gold- and navy-striped tie that Stone's successor Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston ) would often be seen wearing in court in subsequent seasons.
Amy Korb (Tina McCartney) in addition to appearing on Law & Order and Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2001) appeared in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999) season 19 episodes 17, 19, 22 and 24 portraying Pamela Stone the sister of A.D.A. Peter Stone, both the children of Law & Order's original E.A.D.A. Ben Stone.
