Did you know
- TriviaThe entire episode would seem to be an homage to 'Sam Spade' and 'femme fatale' genre.
- GoofsIn Ma Wonderly's office, she tells Kojak she would like to "set back her speedometer," meaning she would like to go back to her younger years. That would be the odometer, which registers mileage, not the speedometer, which reads the speed.
- Quotes
Donna Socrates: Now if you need anything else...
Lt. Theo Kojak: I know, I saw the picture. Just pucker up and whistle , right?

The stuff dreams are made of
This particular Kojak story involves Telly Savalas assuming the guise of a private detective when one is in fact shot dead in his office. His partner in fact is a former NYPD detective who went to the Academy with Kojak.
The deceased was going through a divorce shedding Morgan Fairchild for Angel Tompkins. We should all have such choices. By the way Morgan as the odd woman out in the affair has one unforgettable scene.
With Kojak as a PI the story starts resembling The Maltese Falcon. Especially with Kathleen Freeman also unforgettable as Ms. Wonderly a much put upon used car saleswoman.
Also about halfway through with the viewer noticing the familiarity to The Maltese Falcon you'll see who the murderer. In fact there is actually two of them.
I'm surprised Savalas never did a Sam Spade type part in a feature film.
