Peter Cullen, who provides the voice of K.A.R.R., is better known as the voice of Optimus Prime in the U.S. version of The Transformers (1984) and The Transformers: The Movie (1986). Cullen uses a similar voice for both characters.
Many sources mistakenly presume that Peter Cullen reprised the role of K.A.R.R. in season three's K.I.T.T. vs. K.A.R.R. (1984), but Paul Frees
took over and went uncredited for the role. Cullen would later provide the voice for a different version of K.A.R.R in Knight to King's Pawn (2009) of the sequel series, Knight Rider (2008).
The montage sequence of K.A.R.R.'s various crimes is primarily made up of stock footage of K.I.T.T. These include K.I.T.T. smashing his way out of the lab in Knight of the Phoenix: Part 1 (1982), and a shot of him smashing through a door from Slammin' Sammy's Stunt Show Spectacular (1982). This second instance is noticeable since K.I.T.T. is sporting the same silver star decals. Other shots are made from stock footage pre-dating the series.
K.A.R.R.'s voice modulator is green with three bars, contrasting K.I.T.T's solid red square. K.I.T.T is later refitted with the three-bar design in red for Hearts of Stone (1983). The producers, looking for a more appealing look for the modulator instead of the original 'blinking red square', apparently adapted the design of K.A.R.R.'s after viewers responded well to the look of it.
The residential area K.A.R.R. and K.I.T.T. enter in their chase uses Courthouse Square (Mockingbird Square at the time) on the Universal backlot. This was used previously in Good Day at White Rock and famously features in many movies and TV shows, most notably Back to the Future and To Kill a Mockingbird.
Halfway into the episode the bank that Rev and Tony break into is named the "Centurion Bank". The creator of Knight Rider, Glen A. Larson was also the creator of Battlestar Galactica (1978) which features a model of Cylon called a Centurion.
