Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaEpisode "Hank and the Great Glass Elevator" features the only appearance of Bill's ex-wife, Lenore.
- GoofsThe events depicted here begin with the guys going to Dallas for Bill's birthday, making it clear that this is meant to be a celebration for his birthday. Things then take place over the course of what is most likely a few weeks, with Bill dating Ann Richards, and eventually beginning to date Lenore again. Yet the BBQ at the end is supposed to be for Bill's birthday. Why would they celebrate Bill's birthday SEVERAL WEEKS after it happened?
- Quotes
Hank Hill: [Slamming a piece of charcoal on the table] You brought charcoal into our house!
Peggy Hill: I didn't know what it was Luanne asked me to hold it for her, I thought it was drugs!
Hank Hill: [Holding up Bobby's hand] There's soot under my boy's nails, you don't get that from a clean burning fuel!
Bobby Hill: You don't get the rich smokey flavor either.
Hank Hill: [Scolding him] You shut your mouth!, now we're going to sit here and pray.

Perfect representation of this show at its best
This episode is a perfect representation of this show at its best. The premise of the episode -- Bill dating Ann Richards and Peggy trying to use charcoal instead of propane to grill when Hank is away -- is hilarious enough, but the one-liners throughout (particularly from Dale) are killer. Ann Richards herself is her usual charming and fun self, but Ellen Barkin as Bill's ex-wife is spooky perfect white trash. Mike Judge seems to always ensure that a balance is struck in every episode between loving Texas (which he obviously does) and giving it a tweak or two for some of its not-so-great aspects, and "Hank and the Great Glass Elevator" is a terrific example of that.
