Doug and Carrie make a charitable contribution to Robert Hoover School. There is no explanation of who he was, but the episode was directed by James Widdoes (who also directed more than half of the Two and a Half Men (2003) episodes), whose most memorable acting role was as Robert Hoover in National Lampoon's Animal House (1978).
The young Girl Scout selling cookies at the end of the episode is played by Nina Weithorn. Michael J. Weithorn is the creator and the executive producer of The King of Queens.
The title is, of course, a play on words of "Patron Saint".
