Cassie Stops a Wedding in It's Tracks
chauge-7325310 February 2019
The restaurant is booked for a wedding and the rehearsal dinner the night before. The groom turns out to be an ex-boyfriend of Cassie's, and confesses that he never got over their breakup, and is still in love with her. He considers leaving his bride at the altar in order to win Cassie back. The episode gives some backstory for Cassie. Evidently the two of them grew up together in Kansas before Cassie left for L.A. and changed her name (Katie Lou? and she grew up in Kansas even though Ann Jillian plays her like a tough New Yorker? oh well) Fans of Star Trek the Next Generation may recognize John de Lancie (who played Q), playing the groom. There's a funny little side story with Sonny and the bride's sister that gives the episode a little extra zing.

Shame The Characters Are Watered Down From Season 1
kgraovac2 November 2023
A short-notice wedding will be held at Above the Top and it turns out the groom is an old flame of Cassie's. He leaves his bride-to-be at the altar in the middle of the ceremony because he realizes his heart still belongs to Cassie.

This is another bland Season 2 episode. The attempts at humor do not work. Jennifer Salt as the drunken, bitter sister of the bride is more embarrassing than funny. Her character does provide Sonny with one good line though: "Give 'em ten drinks and they always come around".

The wonderful Gretchen Wyler is wasted here (she was hilarious as Julia's nemesis in the Mame episode of DESIGNING WOMEN).

The writers have softened the Cassie character which was a huge mistake - she's almost non-descript now, aside from being blonde. Only at the end do we see a spark of the fiery Season 1 Cassie return - but only a spark.

The script mentions that Cassie hails from Kansas and that her given name was Katy-Lou. We also learn from the mother of the groom that Cassie is not a natural blonde.

The current version airing on TV and streaming services is missing the tag scene where Dot does a voice-over as we see a montage of snapshots she took at the wedding.
