Did you know
- TriviaThis was the only time Kathleen Freeman did not play Gen. Burkhalter's sister. Alice Ghostley plays her instead. Somewhat curiously, the character's name on the end credits is spelled "Linkmaier," with an I instead of with a Y, as it is spelled in the episodes with Freeman playing her.
- GoofsJust after Schultz leaves to help General Burkhalter 'with his boots', Klink is standing by the door, talking with Gertrude. He moves toward Gertrude, saying, "Wilhelm, my first name?" As he walks toward Gertrude, the camera swings around to show both of them, causing the shadow of the camera to cross Klink's right elbow and forearm.
- Quotes
Col. Robert E. Hogan: [after Newkirk and Carter have been caught escaping] They weren't really trying to escape.
Col. Wilhelm Klink: Yeah, yeah.
Col. Robert E. Hogan: They were going into town for a very good reason.
Col. Wilhelm Klink: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Col. Robert E. Hogan: To buy something. They would have come right back.
Col. Wilhelm Klink: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Col. Robert E. Hogan: A birthday gift for you.
Col. Wilhelm Klink: For me?
Col. Robert E. Hogan: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Col. Wilhelm Klink: I don't believe it.
Col. Robert E. Hogan: Don't let the war make you cynical, sir.
Col. Wilhelm Klink: I was not aware that it's my birthday.
Col. Robert E. Hogan: Isn't it about time you found out?
Col. Wilhelm Klink: I wouldn't believe one word you said, Hogan.
Col. Robert E. Hogan: Not even if I said you were the greatest military mind in the Third Reich?
Col. Wilhelm Klink: That I'd have to think over.
There is also a situation where Hogan and his men need to sabotage a railroad train that will be heading near the camp. They have already placed most of the explosions on the rails but it all needs to be hooked-up. Hogan will have to find a way to leave the camp and make ready the blast. He will have to use the problem with Klink to his advantage.
Even though most of the time when the General's sister makes a visit it means that the episode will have a high entertainment value. However, this time Gertrude is played by Alice Ghostly and not by the usual Kathleen Freeman. For what ever reason, Ms Ghostly just did not seem right for the part. Perhaps we have are accustom to seeing the larger frame Kathleen Freeman in the part and getting her way even by force if need be-- but Ghostly seemed out-of-place. Nothing really wrong with the story just did not set right with the casting.
