Schultz is being transferred.
When Hogan's radio goes down, some parts are needed for repair. The only way that Hogan can get parts is to go into town and let one of the underground agents purchase the items. So this time Newkirk will pretend to have a toothache so that Schultz will take him to town to see a dentist.
But on the way Newkirk gets Schultz to stop by for a little drink and before long, Schultz is drunk. After Newkirk gets the parts, he takes the drunken Schultz back to the camp in a wheelbarrow. When Klink see the condition that Schultz is in, he sets on transferring him to another post. In the meantime Klink gets a new 'Sergeant of the guard', Sergeant Krebs, which is military all the way. Hogan is going to have to find a way to discredit the new sergeant and replace Schultz.
Another episode that features the comedy that the series is so famous for producing. The scene where Schultz is in the bar and then right near the end when he scared to arrest some escaping prisoners- is classic Schultz that the viewers have come to enjoy. This story was nicely written and wonderfully acted. Another good watch in this first season.
