Did you know
- TriviaWhen Sergeant Schultz (John Banner) is on guard duty he challenges Colonel Hogan, "Halt, who goes there?", to which Colonel Hogan responds, "The Kaiser." He is referring to Wilhelm II, who was the last German Emperor (Kaiser) and King of Prussia, reigning from 15 June 1888 until his abdication on 9 November 1918 shortly before Germany's defeat in World War I.
- GoofsHogan tells Klink that he can improve Klink's workout. In a closeup of Hogan, he begins to remove several weights from both ends of the barbell and sets them to his side outside of the camera's view. However, in the next wide shot, none of the individual round weights can be seen near Hogan or anywhere else in the room. Update: When Hogan removes the weights from the end of the barbell nearer to the camera, he sets the weights down right beside the barbell. He then removes some weights from the other end of the barbell and puts them on the floor (out of sight). When the view switches to a wide shot, the near weights are visible, but the other weights are not - because they are hidden by the larger weights that are still on the bar.
- Quotes
Col. Wilhelm Klink: [boys are polishing Klink's car] These boys polish the car every time I come to see you.
Gerda: Hero worship.
Col. Wilhelm Klink: Did you hear that, Schultz? The boys think I'm a hero.
Sgt. Hans Georg Schultz: The joke is on them, Herr Kommandant.

Werner Klemperer holds this episode together
General Burkhalter is upset at some of the Commandants, so he orders all the prison Commandants to take a physical examination. Those that fail will be transferred to the Russian front. This includes out beloved Klink.
Hogan's men work with Klink to try to get him in shape before the medical examination. But it looks hopeless as the date looms. Hogan has got to come up with a plan where Klink can pass the examination. But this is going to be harder than it looks because there is no way Klink will be ready in time.
In this episode we get an average script that is made much better by the actors. Werner Klemperer does a nice job of holding this episode together with his ability to play the part of the inept Commandant to near perfection making the show enjoyable to all.
