- TriviaSome releases of season 1 have this listed as episode 20, with Eye of the Beholder (1993) as episode 19.
- Goofs"Avenging Angel", features a sword fight between immortals that appears to be on holy ground; however the site is actually a museum displaying religious artifacts from the crusades. The confusion arises because footage from this fight is seen in the opening credits of later episodes as the narrator speaks of holy ground.
- Quotes
Duncan MacLeod: Elaine's retired. Now, when you've got time to think about it, you'll realise that's for the best. For everyone.
Dominique Battini: I never thought you'd go over to the competition, you bitch.
Elaine Trent: Don't worry, I didn't. You're still the biggest pimp in Paris.

1x20 Avenging Angel
Every other episode listing and home media release I've seen lists this is as Episode 20, coming after Eye of the Beholder, although different sources give different airdates!
Either way, since Felicia Martins turned out to be faking, I think this marks the first time we meet a newly activated Immortal in the series. We get a reference to the Gathering, for the first time since Band of Brothers I think, but that seems at odds with the idea of new Immortals popping up.
This also marked the point where it dawned on me that the France-set episodes feature an awful lot of British actors, as Martin Kemp, a few years off his role in EastEnders, pops up as the villain of the week. Alfred Cahill isn't the deepest villain (we get some back story but basically he's just mad), but Kemp plays the part with a frightening intensity that makes him a memorable antagonist.
Duncan sees Cahill revive but is unable to convince him of the truth of his condition. Instead, Cahill decides to punish "sinners", which seems to amount to prostitutes, their pimps and their clients. In a huge coincidence, Tessa has just got in touch with an old friend who turns out to be a high-class prostitute, and she and Duncan pop round for a visit just after Cahill has murdered a man outside her flat.
Tessa's disgust at Elaine's new life doesn't show her in a good light but she gets points by coming round once she realises what she's saying. Duncan is more understanding having seen many things over his long life: He speaks from experience of constantly reinventing yourself. Inevitably it all builds to a showdown to end Cahill's holy crusade. Tessa does a good job of facing down a villain again.
First episode not to feature Richie, who is said to be in Amsterdam.
