Dedication: In the last ten years 1,239 police officers have been killed nationwide in the line of duty. This episode is dedicated to those officers.
This would be based on the North Hollywood Shootout which occurred in the North Hollywood district of Los Angeles on February 28, 1997. Eleven police officers and seven civilians were injured in the event. According to FBI statistics, no police officer has been killed in the line of duty with a machine gun since 1987. And the North Hollywood Shootout was no exception. The perpetrators of the shootout were dubbed the High Incident bandits from this basis.
