HIGH INCIDENT – "Pilot" – 1996 This Police drama ran during 1996-97 and is set El Camino California. It follows the lives of several of the officers of the precinct. The series was created by actor, writer Eric Bogosian. The series was produced by Bogosian and Steven Spielberg.

In this episode we are introduced to the officers of the precinct. These include, Matt Craven, Matt Beck, David Keith, Cole Hauser, Catherine Kellner, Louis Mustillo and Julio Oscar Mechoso.

The episode follows the various patrol cars as they deal with the various calls. There is the bad neighbour calls, the drunk driver stops etc. Watch Sgt. David Keith is showing the ropes to rookie officer Cole Hauser, Matt Craven is out with long-time patrol partner Rocky Carroll talking about lawn mowers. The day is another routine day in the life of a cop.

Routine that is, till Craven and Carroll pull over a car with stolen plates. The man inside, pulls a gun and starts shooting, knocking down Carroll who is fatally wounded. Craven returns fire and kills the suspect. This scene is really eye popping, as the whole thing is shown through the dash camera on the Police car. A real gut wrenching bit of television.

Hard to believe that this top flight cop show only ran 32 episodes. With all the talent in front and behind the camera it should have stuck around. The episode was directed by Charles (Hill Street Blues) Haid.
