Dyan Cannon's screen debut, as Fifi, the young woman Paladin surreptitiously meets at the San Francisco Opera House. Although a substantive speaking role, Cannon was uncredited. She will reprise the role in The Man Who Wouldn't Talk (1958) (and receive screen credit).

Adeline De Walt Reynolds (Baba) was 95 at the time of filming and was Hollywood's oldest working actress. She was born in 1862 during the Civil War and lived through the Old West era the series portrays. She began her acting career at age 78 in 1941 and worked until 1960. She passed away at age 98 the following year.
Sole series appearances for Morris Ankrum (Maxim Bruckner), Wayne Heffley (Johann Schmidt), and Brad Dexter. Dexter, who secured his Western creds playing Harry Luck in The Magnificent Seven (1960), would work with Richard Boone again two decades later in the conspiracy thriller Winter Kills (1979).
