When Rose gets revenge on Dorothy's arrogance by swatting her on the head with a newspaper, you expect Dorothy to react with horror. She is initially horrified, briefly enraged, and then breaks down in tears for the emotional hurt as Blanche and Rose tell her off. It's a great moment that is quickly destroyed by her threatening violence against Rose which the old Dorothy would never have considered.
It turns out that Sophia is back at Shady Pines which has become like a resort, and the girls must come to some sort of understanding. It's obvious by this point that "Golden Palace" is slowly tanking, proven that even Dorothy's return couldn't help them get it right. The Chuy/Beverly story is also a bust, and the unnecessary character of Oliver seems to have been phased out. Dorothy sort of just fades out at the end, a sad finale to my favorite character from the original series.
