The One That Got Away (#4.3)

Warning: Spoilers
The only guy who ever turned Blanche down comes to town. He is not as handsome as before but Blanche still tries to make her record with men perfect. Yet he keeps on turning her down. Rose and Dorothy see something flying over their backyard and think it is a UFO, only it turns to be some military testing.

A pretty fun episode. Feel very bad for the guy in Blanche's story but the way it ended was pretty creative. I thought they will just make him gay. Turns out he just thought he slept with her and not her sister.

The alien story was fun as well. Rose communicating with them by using flashlight and a mirror was great.Rose is such a cute character when it comes to her innocent and naive beliefs.

The Golden Girls goes a little bit X Files.

Rose is convinced that she's spotted a UFO, and does all that she can to try and coax it back, meanwhile Blanche tries to rekindle an old romance, Ham Lushbough, he sticks out as the only man to say no to her.

A nice episode, a mix of funny and unusual, Blanche's story is a bit more routine, but still funny, the UFO storyline however is a little off the wall, but it really did lead to some cracking moments.

You've got to hand it to Rue, Blanche does look divine in that dress. It was nice to see her out on a date, and actually enjoying herself, he actually seemed to make her feel good.

Oh my days that scene where Rose says she'd like to see more of Ham, that's quality, I'd love to know what Sophia had planned.

Zany, good fun.

7/10.

A truly spaced out episode.

Warning: Spoilers
It's a starry night for space cadet Betty White who swears that the UFO she saw with Dorothy was a spaceship from another planet. Dorothy believes that it was just a strange looking plane flying a bit too low and when an Air Force officer confirms Rose's belief, Dorothy is petrified. It's a better plot than the main one concerning Blanche's visit from an old beau who is more than twice his size from when she last saw him. Yet Blanche tries to seduce him simply because he turned her down years ago and has again. This just makes Blanche even more shallow and desperate, and ultimately this doesn't make her very likable here. Dorothy too gets insulted (unintentionally) by the Air Force officer, making this episode a bit mean spirited. The fat jokes towards Blanche's ex Ham are only moderately funny, although the way that Estelle Getty delivers them makes them seem hysterical.
