- TriviaThe last episode of the series. The show had been renewed for a fourth season until the previously-cancelled Gunsmoke (1955) was reinstated with the sacrifice of this series and what was to be a brand-new show.
- GoofsIn the opening sequence, when Mary Ann & Ginger are seen running from the natives, Gilligan is putting up a large SOS sign made of canvas. When Gilligan finally sees who the girls are running from, he does so as well, running directly into the sign & falling backwards, with the sign landing on top of him , covering all but his feet & lower legs. The natives continue pursuing the girls , each stepping on Gilligan in turn. In watching the feet & legs, it can be clearly seen that Bob Denver has been replaced by a dummy.

[Mr. Howell, the Professor, and Skipper are dressed as women in an attempt to fool some visiting natives looking for a "white goddess" to throw into their volcano]
Jonas 'The Skipper' Grumby: [chuckling] Well, I must say, you two are a gruesome twosome!
Thurston Howell III: You don't make us a thrillsome threesome, I might say.
Professor Roy Hinkley: You know, I don't think this is going to work.
Thurston Howell III: Maxine, I don't know about you and Laverne, but I'm getting out of this.
Jonas 'The Skipper' Grumby: Wait a minute! Where's Gilligan? Gilligan?
[shouting]
Jonas 'The Skipper' Grumby: Gilligan!
Gilligan: [running in to hut] Somebody call... me?
Gilligan: I'd hate to judge this beauty contest, because nobody'd win!

Words and Music by George Wyle and Sherwood Schwartz
The guys have no choice but to intercept the king's plans, take a chance and have one of them dress up as the damsel in distress. Enter Gilligan, or rather Giliana (dig the fancy threads!), formally crowned queen for a day -- if he or she survives. And surprise! The king actually likes what he sees and would rather have Giliana all for himself! Egads!
Is this how it all ends? Stay tuned.
Well written by the team of Jack Paritz and Bob Rodgers who also cranked out some classic episodes for BATMAN, later writing for LOVE, AMERICAN STYLE, many other sitcoms. Yes! I agree with the last reviewer, Stanley Adams does come off as a poor man's Jackie Gleason -- to a degree. Adams was quite popular at the time in both movies and tv.
The story goes the series was actually renewed for a fourth season, then CBS abruptly changed its mind (mostly because the top brass wasn't too fond of the show to begin with). The ratings were quite low, however, the series ranking 48 in the Top 50. That said, THE MONKEES ranked 42 --and was renewed! What producer Sherwood Schwartz should have done was go to another network, following the lead of many other series, such as LEAVE IT TO BEAVER.
Filmed partly at Alamitos Bay, a long sandy beach, adjacent to Long Beach, California, which kind of resembled Gilligan's Island at various angles!
SEASON 3 EPISODE 30 remastered color CBS dvd box set.
