"Yenta" is the Yiddish word for "a gossip."
The title was inspired by the show The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964), which aired on NBC at the same time as Get Smart (1965)
This is the first credited appearance of Robert Karvelas. He had appeared previously as Larabee and other characters but always uncredited.
When the Chief gets a call on the "International Hotline", he opens a panel on
one side of the office. As the panel opens, you can see that there are seven
telephone handsets, for different international cities, hanging vertically on the wall.
There is one exception - Peking. This one, and only this one, is
horizontal on the wall. For those who do not know the joke, this is a reference
to Asian women having "a different anatomical arrangement" from Western women.
The acronym YENTA stands for Your Espionage Network and Training Academy.
