- Kimble, on the run again, finds himself stranded on a broken down bus on a remote mountain road. The passengers discover Kimble's true identity and one of them, armed with a gun, is determined to turn him in to the police.
- Dr. Kimble, as Stu Manning, is working at Indian Lake Lodge as a hotel clerk. A young man moves from car to car, stealing a gun from a glove compartment and finds a camera in another car. Kimble stops him before he can take the camera, and the thief runs off. Kimble carries the camera up a steep set of stairs to Louanne, who's lying on a chaise lounge suffering from a headache. Kimble and Louanne exchange some cryptic chit chat about the previous night. She's mad at him. Kimble informs her that she has a flat tire, which distresses her because she needs to get to Hazelton that afternoon.
Meanwhile, two other hotel guests, Mr. and Mrs. Langer are having lunch at the tennis courts and arguing. Langer, a middle aged man, has been playing tennis and flirting with a young woman. Mrs. Langer tells him that she's leaving the Lodge but that he can stay and continue his vacation if he wants.
Back at the hotel lobby, the manager has called in the police because the safe was robbed. Kimble had brought the restaurant and bar money into the office but the manager doesn't recall that. The hotel staff are questioned and fingerprinted, including Kimble.
Kimble calls for a shuttle bus for Louanne to get to Hazelton and learns of landslides on the canyon roads. Louanne and Mr. and Mrs. Langer all get on the bus. Some distance down the road, Kimble runs down a set of stairs and flags down the bus, giving an excuse about an emergency with his sister. Louanne continues her sniping at Kimble when she sees him, asking him if he needs an alibi for the previous night. They refer to their argument again. Meanwhile, Mr. Langer keeps looking back at Louanne's legs. "The older they are, the younger they wish," says Louanne about Mr. Langer.
The bus comes upon an abandoned car at a landslide. The driver of the car shows up and asks for a ride on the bus off the mountain. It's the young thief who stole the gun from earlier in the episode. He takes a seat next to Kimble and shows him the gun, warning him not to say anything to the others about their previous encounter.
Back at the Lodge, the manager discovers the missing money in his desk. He had been drinking the prior night and forgot all about it. But the fingerprints for Stu Manning have come back as a match for Kimble so the police are after him not for stolen money anymore but as a fugitive on the run.
On the bus, Mrs. Langer is nervous about the bumpy roads and the landslides so she wants to return to the Lodge. Louanne, Kimble, and the thief all want to continue on. The young thief turns on a transistor radio and tries to sit next to Louanne, but Kimble, protecting her, pushes the thief into another seat and takes the seat next to Louanne. Later that night, the news comes on the radio and Kimble tries unsuccessfully to get the young man to change the radio station. Just then the bus hits a rock and the rear axle breaks. The bus driver and Kimble are about to hike in opposite directions to find an emergency phone when the radio broadcasts, "In local news for Hazelton and the resorts, we have a report that someone who worked at Indian Lake Lodge under the name of Stuart Manning is in truth convicted wife slayer Richard Kimble, former Indiana doctor. Kimble disappeared from the Lodge sometime this afternoon during an investigation of a robbery, which was later solved." Kimble tries to grab the young thief's bag, where the gun is, but during their struggle, Mr. Langer gets the gun.
The driver ties Kimble's hands behind his back. Louanne slaps Kimble, still mad at him for the previous night. Mr. Langer, now in possession of the gun, says he's in charge of the situation until the police arrive. "He's my prisoner." The thief can't believe that the guy who caught him stealing is actually a convicted killer. An hour later, with the bus driver off looking for an emergency phone, the passengers at the stranded bus are starting to build a fire to keep warm. Louanne and Kimble talk and clear the air. Louanne apologizes to Kimble for hitting him and for starting their argument the prior night. Mrs. Langer, sitting on the bus nearby, hears everything. Mr. Langer invites Louanne to come closer to the fire to get warm. Louanne helps Kimble to his feet and starts to lead him over to the fire. Mr. Langer objects and pushes Kimble to the ground. Mrs. Langer calls him a bully and they argue. Louanne openly flirts with Langer and Kimble sees a chance to run away. However, Mr. Langer fires a warning shot before Kimble gets very far. Langer threatens him, "Try another break and I'll kill you."
Langer puts Kimble on the bus to keep him from running. Louanne goes in and talks to him. Kimble asks Louanne to convince the young thief to get on the bus so he can talk to him. Louanne distracts Langer by flirting with him. Langer hands the gun over to the young thief to keep an eye on Kimble and follows Louanne into the woods. Mrs. Langer knows that Louanne is trying to help Kimble. The young thief unties Kimble and hands him the gun. He then threatens Mrs. Langer with a knife. Kimble grabs the young thief and helps Mrs. Langer. The thief can't believe that Kimble's turning on him after he helped him. Kimble tells the thief to leave and hands the gun to Mrs. Langer for her protection. Mrs. Langer points the gun at Kimble but does not pull the trigger. Kimble escapes
Epilogue: The police arrive and Mrs. Langer informs them that Kimble has run off. Louanne asks why Mrs. Langer didn't stop her from flirting with her husband. Mrs. Langer says, "I think you can answer that." Louanne says, "Richard Kimble got away. That's my answer." Mrs. Langer replies, "And he wasn't even in love with you."
