- Julio Mendez: Has anyone ever told you that you have the sensitivity of a rock?
- Joe Kline: Yeah, my mother.
- Nicholas Pike: [to Barry] You know... I really like this city, and I am going to enjoy destroying it. And there's not a thing you can do about it. I mean, I can get away with anything, right? After all, I killed your brother. I mean, you should have heard him beg for his life. Oh, it was pathetic. But the, I guess cowardice is a family trait.
- [Barry punches him]
- Nicholas Pike: Maybe the Flash can outrun bullets and bombs, but let him try to outrun this.
- [reveals a missile]
- Barry Allen: I'm sick of the whole business, all right? I want to live a normal life without life and death emergencies happening every time I turn around.
- Christina McGee: But you can't just leave town. I mean, where would you go?
- Barry Allen: I don't know. I... I'd travel around. Who knows? If I find someplace I like, maybe I won't come back at all.
- Christina McGee: So, you're just going to turn your back on Central City and all its problems?
- Barry Allen: According to Joe Kline, I am the problem.
- Christina McGee: Barry, Joe Kline is just one man.
- Barry Allen: I never wanted these powers in the first place.
- Christina McGee: And now, because you feel unappreciated, you're just going to quit.
- Barry Allen: You know, sometimes I get really tired of you critiquing my entire life like you were my therapist or my mother. I mean, you're not exactly the easiest person to get along with, you know?
- Christina McGee: I never realized my friendship was such a burden. You know, maybe it would be better for both of us if you left town.
- Barry Allen: Look, this is not about appreciation. The man who murdered my brother has been set free. The system I have believed in my entire life has blown up in my face. And now somebody's actually accusing me of murdering Jay. You don't understand. You can't understand.
- Barry Allen: Juilo, where are we?
- Julio Mendez: The old Devil's Gate reservoir.
- Barry Allen: Pike's old hideout?
- Julio Mendez: He'd never think of looking for us here.
- Barry Allen: Well, wait a minute, why are all these people staring at us?
- Lt. Warren Garfield: Because they know you're the Flash.
- Barry Allen: Lieutenant Garfield.
- Lt. Warren Garfield: Oh, good to see you, Barry! Or should I say the Flash?
- Barry Allen: This is crazy. The Flash was just a man.
- Lt. Warren Garfield: Well, not to these people. Especially the younger ones? He's a hero.
- Barry Allen: Someone once told me The Flash would be forgotten in a few years. I never thought he'd end up in a museum. All these people out there waiting for me to save them. I don't know if I can be what they want be to be.
- Christina McGee: I believe in you.
- Christina McGee: Julio told me what happened.
- Barry Allen: Yeah, the electric shock. Must've recharged my metabolism for a few seconds. It didn't last.
- Christina McGee: Julio also told me why you disappeared. I guess I owe you an apology.
- Barry Allen: No. That night I tried to leave town, but I couldn't. That was partly because of The Flash and it was partly because of you.
- Christina McGee: Stop it. I can't handle it. I prayed for years for you to come back. Until I finally I gave up. On everything.
- Barry Allen: I don't believe that.
- Christina McGee: For God sakes, Barry, grow up! Maybe nothing's changed for you but everything's changed for me. I no longer believe that love conquers all or-or the good guys always wins. I'm not sure I believe anything anymore. But I don't want you complicating my life. Now, as soon as you're feeling up to it, I'd like you leave.
- Barry Allen: Tina. I need your help to become The Flash again. There must be something you can do.
- Christina McGee: While you were unconscious, I ran some tests. Your metabolism's in a very dangerous state. Any attempt to revive your powers could kill you.
- Barry Allen: Hey, this is my old street.
- Julio Mendez: Yeah, when you disappeared, Sabrina and I kind of took over the place.
- Barry Allen: You and Sabrina moved in together?
- Julio Mendez: Worse. We're married.
- Nicholas Pike: [to The Flash] What took you so long? It's time we finish this little game between us. I have plans for Central City and you just don't fit into them. You should've killed me when you had the chance. That is an error I don't intend to make. Now let's see just how fast you can really run.
- Christina McGee: Look, there could be another way.
- Julio Mendez: How?
- Christina McGee: Barry's here because of an accident. A tear in the space-time continuum. Now, if he could get back through that tear, maybe he could keep all this from happening.
- Barry Allen: You mean, go back in the past and stop Pike from taking over Central City in the first place?
- Christina McGee: Yes.
- Lt. Warren Garfield: Is that possible?
- Christina McGee: Theoretically.
- Barry Allen: How do we do it?
- Christina McGee: There's only one way. We've got to break into S.T.A.R. Labs.
- Julio Mendez: Oh, that would be suicide.
- Christina McGee: No, not necessarily. If they're still using the same old security system, I should be able to override it and get us all inside.
- Barry Allen: I guess we don't have a choice.
- Lt. Warren Garfield: It was on the news this morning. According to the mayor, you're the same outlaw who caused Central City so much trouble ten years ago. He's offering a big reward for your capture. I always knew there was something strange about you, Allen.
- Barry Allen: Thank you, sir.
- Shawn - Age 17: Don't you recognize me? I'm Shawn.
- Barry Allen: Shawn? Hey.
- [they embrace in a hug]
- Barry Allen: But-but you're all grown up.
- Shawn - Age 17: Is it true? Are you really The Flash?
- Barry Allen: Well...
- Shawn - Age 17: Are you gonna save Central City from Pike like you did before?
- Barry Allen: Shawn, I can't. I, um, I don't have the powers anymore. I'm just like anyone else.
- Barry Allen: Well, she blames me for what happened. She thinks maybe I could've stopped it.
- Julio Mendez: Maybe she's right.
- Barry Allen: Julio, I didn't just walk away. Something happened. One minute, I was in 1991 and the next I was here. Well, look at me, come on, man. You said yourself I haven't changed. At all.
- Julio Mendez: Wait, so, you're telling me that you traveled through time?
- Barry Allen: Pike tried to blow up The Flash with a heat-seeking missile, alright? Now, I-I don't know, maybe the combination of my speed and the force of the explosion caused me to travel faster than the speed of light for just a second. All I know is that somehow I jumped ten years into the future.
- Julio Mendez: You know, that's the craziest story I've ever heard from you or anybody else.
- Barry Allen: You sure have changed.
- Julio Mendez: Well, you sure haven't. Look exactly the same as you did ten years ago. Where did you disappear to all this time?
- Barry Allen: Boy, it's a long story.
- Julio Mendez: Does it have anything to do with that red suit?
- Barry Allen: I guess I owe you an explanation.
- Julio Mendez: Well, if it makes it any easier, I figured out you were The Flash a long time ago.
- Barry Allen: You did?
- Julio Mendez: Well, I had my suspicions. But when you both disappeared at the same time I put it all together.
- Barry Allen: You don't know how long I wanted to tell ya. I'm glad you finally know.
