- Ray tells Debra that he's going to be working late. But is he really?
- The episode opens with Debra getting a phone call from Ray saying he'll be late for dinner because he's still at work. Marie explains that it's more fun for Ray to hang out with his buddies than to be home with a messy house and taking care of the kids. So, Debra puts some food in a cooler and takes Ray's dinner to his office. She finds him playing paper football and joking with the guys. Then Andy mentions something about working from home. Debra is happy with that idea. Soon after, Ray has a satellite dish installed so he can get all the games, and also gets a new printer and fax machine. While Debra is out running errands, Ray is watching TV and playing with the kids when he is supposed to be working. He, Robert and Frank are all seen watching hockey as well as cop shows on a Korean station. Debra gets home to find the house a big mess. She can't take it any longer and wants Ray to start going to work again.
- Debra becomes upset with Ray because he is always late coming home from work. Marie indicates that maybe Ray doesn't want to come back home because of Debra's nagging or her cooking. Marie says that she read an article in the New York Times, which said that many people stay longer at the office since they are happy there and it is easier for them. They have friends and chit-chat at the office, while at home they have to deal with the kids, and the nagging.
Debra catches Ray having pizza and playing at work. Debra had gone to deliver Ray's dinner to him, but instead of writing, she finds Ray having fun with his buddies. Ray says that he is working, but they were taking a mini break so as to get back their focus. According to Ray that is the writing process. Debra feels like an idiot that she cared for Ray and re-heated the food and brought it to the office.
Debra tells Ray that she understands that being at work is a lot more fun for Ray than being at home, cleaning up, raising the kids and paying the bills. Debra says that she wishes she had a place to hide out.
Debra also finds from Ray's colleague Andy (Andy Kindler), that office provides an option to work from home with a satellite dish and everything. Plus, Ray's boss loves him and even shares a coffee mug with him. He would readily give permission to Ray to work from home. Debra accuses Ray of not wanting to work from home. Ray reluctantly decides to work from home.
Ray misses work. His buddies at work are ordering lunch. Plus, he is constantly interrupted by Marie coming over, Debra asking for help and the kids wanting to spend time with him. Robert wants to know if the pants look OK since Marie hemmed them and now, they are 2 inches too short. Marie assumes that Ray wants to spend more time with her and Frank, but Ray clarifies that he is working from home to spend time with Debra and the kids. Debra wants Ray to help with the groceries. Geoffrey comes over and wants Ray to read him a story book. Debra leaves home to pick up Ally and run some errands, and also to take Ally to ballet class.
At home, he starts to mess the house. The coffee pot is ruined, the non-stick has crayons melted in it, the twins are asleep during the day & hence will be up all night and Frank and Robert comes over a lot more as the satellite dish installed by the office also gets a lot more TV channels. They are even getting Korean channels now. The guys watch a game on the TV while Debra is gone and now the whole house is messed up with chips, popcorn and stale pizza.
Debra asks Ray to go back to the office. Debra says that Ray is not getting any work done at home and says that he is always distracted, so he is better off at work. Debra says that she wants Ray to want to be at home, but not actually be at home.
