- Debra's father brings an older woman to Thanksgiving dinner.
- It's the first Thanksgiving since Debra's parents have been divorced and now Debra is thrilled that both of her parents have agreed to have dinner with all the Barones. However, she soon learns that unfortunately Warren is bringing a date. Everyone is horrified except Debra's mother, who thinks it's just great.
- Lois is staying with Ray and Debra for Thanksgiving. Debra finds it odd that Ray cannot call Lois "Mom". He keeps calling her with all sorts of adjectives like "there", "you", "milady" and so on. Debra's father Warren (Robert Culp) brings a date to Thanksgiving dinner. Debra thinks this is inappropriate and everybody assumes that Warren is dating a young floozy. Lois is actually very OK with the idea and thinks she might date a guy at some point herself. Debra says that it is too soon for Warren to date as they have been separated only 8 months.
Later at night, Debra is livid with Ray and says that she expected more support as Warren dating another woman has to be painful for Lois. Ray says that it seems Debra has more issues with the dating than Lois. Debra is also upset that Ray never addresses Lois properly and only grunts at her.
Warren arrives with Emma (Patricia Place) who is much older to himself. Robert assumes that Emma is hard of hearing and talks loudly around her. Emma works in Warren's office and was about to retire the year before but decided to continue. Emma was tired from the drive over and goes for a nap in Ally's room and can climb the stairs very slowly.
When Ray says that "He only wanted someone different", it upsets Lois and makes Debra and Marie mad. They leave to console Lois. Frank cannot understand what Warren is doing, since he is still handsome, has a nice tan, and still has all his teeth. He can be with any woman he wants. Warren explains to the guys that an older woman makes him feel young and vibrant.
Marie and Debra return to confront Ray and Frank. Robert and Warren leave to go to a bar as Warren says that Emma is good for the next 3 hours with her nap. Debra asks Ray if he said this to Lois because he meant it. Men only want someone different even if it was their 200-pound cleaning lady Claudia, with a bad skin and a limp. She came one a week after Ally was born and Ray could not help himself staring at her. Debra says that it does not matter who it is, Ray would take anyone as long as it is someone different. Ray has to explain hard to say it was a "off the cuff" comment and didn't mean anything. He would never cheat on Debra with anyone. Not even a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, even if she begged him.
Marie is disgusted as Warren chose an older date as that makes it clear that he didn't leave Lois for her body or her figure, he left her for who she is, and that's disgusting. She slaps Frank. Frank admits that Claudia came onto him once, but he resisted her as he was married to Marie. But Frank admits to staring at Claudia, just as Ray did.
Lois comes back from her walk all dejected and forlorn. Ray apologizes to Lois (Katherine Helmond) and calls her "Mom", making Debra happy and Marie insulted.
