- After an attack by Osaarian pirates, Enterprise follows them to a mysterious sphere.
- Enterprise encounters the Osaarians, the pirates of the Delphic Expanse. Archer goes to extremes to get information about the Xindi. A sphere, dating back at least a millennia, harnesses massive energy and may be the cause of the anomalies of the mysterious Delphic Expanse.—Meribor
- Enterprise is hit by anomalies that cause problems all over the ship, especially the warp drive malfunctioning is a big problem. When the crew find a ship with all its crew dead, Archer has the feeling that the aggressor might not be far away and orders Enterprise to move away at impulse speed. It's already too late however. Enterprise is robbed by pirates, Oosarians tells Phlox who recognizes them, a race not from the Expanse. They've taken all of Enterprise' antimatter storage pods and numerous other valuable supplies. In order to get their supplies back, Archer orders to follow their ion trail, which stops at a mysterious sphere.—Arnoud Tiele (imdb@tiele.nl)
- As Enterprise continues to travel through the Delphic Expanse, the ship is damaged by destructive spatial anomalies. With most of the primary systems off-line, Ensign Mayweather notices another ship adrift in open space nearby, but no life-signs are detected. Captain Archer leads Lieutenant Reed and several MACOs on an away mission, and discover the crew are all dead (but they have no external injuries). Taking what they can, they return and resume their mission. The ship has been dead for less than 2 days and Archer thinks that the attacker is still nearby, so doesn't want to waste more time for repairs on his own ship.
Soon another vessel approaches Enterprise, and a group of aliens beam on board, stealing weapons, food and equipment. The crew finally prevails, and one of the aliens, an Osaarian called Orgoth (Robert Rusler), is captured (while the rest are able to beam back to their ship). Archer loses one member of his crew, while several are badly injured from Disruptor fire. The Osaarians have taken half the food, half the weapons and all the antimatter containment pods (so basically they have one month worth of fuel supply for the engines and that's it).. Archer hopes to recover the stolen items, but the Osaarians have masked their ion trail. He then confronts Orgoth in the brig. He explains they were traders attempting to find new trade routes, but after being hit by the spatial anomalies they were unable to leave and resorted to piracy. Orgoth tells Archer to insulate his ship with Trellium-D to stop it from being destroyed by the spatial anomalies (which can also distort the people inside the ship). also the Thermobaric clouds at the barrier of the expanse, only let you in, but there is no way out.
The crew are able to track the Osaarian vessel (by finding clues from the dead ship they founds a few days ago), finding a large 1,000-year-old sphere constructed out of a single alloy (19 kilometers in diameter and hiding inside a large cloaking field). The Sphere is unprotected and there are no ships nearby.. Archer and his away team (who enter the sphere through a space door with a shuttle-pod) discover a series of habitat modules containing most of the stolen items. The crew also finds a cargo manifest, and Ensign Sato soon learns they had also recently attacked a Xindi ship. Reed gets a 2nd degree burn while installing a plasma injector back into the engine.
Archer once again confronts Orgoth, demanding to know everything about the Xindi. To make him talk, he drags the Osaarian to an airlock, initiating the decompression cycle. Orgoth reveals that they downloaded the Xindi database, and provides the access codes to their computer. When the alien ship returns to the sphere, Mayweather maneuvers Enterprise close enough for Sato to download 90% of the database before Archer attacks the ship and disables their engines. Archer sends Orgoth back to his people (Not before Orgoth warns Archer against showing mercy in the expanse).
