St. John's Confidence
Ensign O'Toole (Dean Jones) and Lt. Rex St. John (Jack Mullaney) have hot dates in the port of Honolulu. St. John's date Mary Lou (familiar character actress Jackie Joseph) seems more interested in food, however, shaking his confidence. "Well I thought I was kind of handsome," says St. John to O'Toole, "and I certainly never considered myself any kind of a Greek god.....but I did think I was cute!" St. John continues talking to O"Toole, "When you take women out, they eat out of your hands. Mine just eats." O'Toole talks Lt. Melton (Ken Berry, "Mama's Family, "F Troop", "Mayberry R.F.D.") into having his fiancé Jane (Cynthia Chenault) pretend to be interested in St. John. O'Toole arranges to have another WAC, Arlene (Jackie Loughery), to come onto to St. John as well. His confidence is raised high enough for him to charm and kiss a visiting congressman's (Ransom M. Sherman) daughter Patricia (Nancy Rennick) aboard the USS Appleby. St. John comes under fire from Commander Stoner (Jack Albertson) but Pat enjoyed it and wants to have dinner with him. Things go smoothly until St. John learns of O'Toole's initial setup. At dinner he is obstinate toward everyone and the scene of making smalltalk about water is comical. This is a solid episode with some funny lines.
