This episode felt very out of place. David and Janet break up and he immediately decides to take a road trip with a female friend. Then they encounter a group of competitive hang gliders we've never seen before and the entire episode is centered around these characters.
No mention of the rest of the Bradford family nor do we see any of them. And David doesn't seem to grow or change much from this trip because he doesn't return to Sacramento until the following season. I don't know what the intention was with this two-parter but it felt like some type of backdoor pilot for a David centered spinoff. This one can easily be skipped.
