Jerry Hausner (the kangaroo owner) tries to get his kangaroo out of the veterinarian's office, it refused to cooperate calmly, some of the footage was actually played backwards to give the effect the chaotic animal is backing up, to prevent filming any of the mayhem it did cause.
This episode has one of the earliest uses of the word pregnant on a television show. The word, although not vulgar in any particular sense, was considered to suggestive and was taboo on television in the 1950's and 60's. During Lucille Ball's 1952 pregnancy on I Love Lucy, the word pregnant was forbidden despite assurances from clergy members, brought in to approve pregnancy story ideas, that the word was perfectly fine to use. Words like "expecting" or "in the family way" has to be used instead. In this episode the lady with the cat in the vet's office tells Rob she is assured that her cat is not pregnant leading to very enthusiastic laughter from the studio audience.
Geraldine Wall, Miss Glasset in this episode would return a few weeks later for the first of two appearances (What's In A Middle Name, The Plots Thicken) as Laura Petrie's mother, Mrs. Meehan.
This is the only episode from the series with a timeline that covers an extended period of time--three months.
This is the second of three episodes to feature a scene in Ritchie's bedroom, although the bedroom set design is different in each of the episodes.
