When the story begins, Mel announces to the writers that he hated their big sketch for the upcoming episode. The writers are angry and Rob insists the sketch is great. Mel won't budge, so Rob quits...and is shocked when Buddy and Sally stay behind at the office.
When Rob comes home, he's angry at his so-called 'friends'...and recounts what it was like when he first came to the show. He was the Head Writer but oddly Buddy and Sally weren't told...they just thought he was another writer. When Rob tells them, they pretty much give him the cold shoulder...and the rest of this and the walk out are for you to find out about when you watch the show.
This episode is good because it stays true to the characters...something that wasn't always the case with "The Dick Van Dyke Show". Overall, not one of the funnier ones, but a very good and interesting one.
