Why is Rob friends with Jerry?!
In several episodes of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" during season one and two, the Petrie's neighbor, Jerry Helper, is a major jerk. "Gesundheit, Darling" is yet another episode that makes you wonder WHY Rob has anything to do with Jerry!
The Helpers come over for cards. During the game, Rob begins sneezing again and again, and annoying Jerry starts suggesting there is some psychological basis for the sneezing...some suppressed hostility. Sadly, Laura believes it and poor Rob is accused by Laura of being angry with her! And, Laura starts a fight with him that lasts all night long. So, what's next?
As IMDB noted, this is the second episode in a row where folks become amateur psychotherapists...and are 100% wrong. 6. It's also one of quite a few which feature Rob and Laura arguing...something I didn't particularly like seeing.
So is this any good? Yes. Despite the arguing, the episode was unusual and worth seeing. Fortunately, by the way, the show changed Jerry's character a bit in later seasons...making him less annoying and more a guy you could understand Rob liking.
