Amanda gives birth!
coltras3524 May 2022
Dr Sloan becomes embroiled in a murder investigation after receiving the wrong set of prints from a photo shop. Plus Amanda's hormones makes her panicky as she's close to giving birth to a baby; it's a light segment of the show in contrast to murder, a kidnapped escort and crooked attorneys, even though generally that is executed in a fun light. DM is an escapist, fun show, which viewers who are pendantic over realistic details wouldn't enjoy. This episode is standard, yet entirely watchable.

Colin Jesse Bentley
safenoe30 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Jennifer Campbell stars as escort lady Darlene Mix who unwittingly witnesses a judge (the identity unbeknownst to her at the time) murdering another escort lady in a bedroom. Mark, Steve and paparazzi photographer Vic Slovak (Stephen Furst) investigate this after Mark accidentally received wrong photos linked to the murder.

Also Amanda gives birth to a baby boy, Colin Jesse. Colin is the first name of her husband (who we never see) and Jesse is for Jesse Travers who delivered the baby in his car as he was driving Amanda to the hospital. Jesse gets excited and hopes he is known as C. Jesse Bentley, citing examples of famous people like L. Ron Hubbard and F Lee Bailey, to which Amanda exclaims "He's in prison!" At the time F Lee Bailey served time in prison.

Unfortunately Michael Tucci (no relationship to Stanley) doesn't appear in this engaging episode.

We get to see Mark's beautiful beach house and thankfully he doesn't engage in verbal brawls with the public walking on the beach too close to his place.

As for who should have played Colin, the casting director should have got Carl Weathers, Prince, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy or Michael Clarke Duncan. That would have had the ratings go through the roof.

Steve warns of danger of solariums to the bikini clad owner of an escort agency, and that's quite prescient.

Realism needs a boost in this one.

Warning: Spoilers
Solving the murder depended on some unrealistic digital "blow-ups" of photos that could never pass muster with today's wiser audiences. There's no way that you can have clear blowups of such tiny areas of a photo with the limitation of resolution of the photos they were examining.

Lastly, for a doctors show, an incredibly unrealistic delivery of a baby in a car. She was sitting up and when the baby came out...it was as clean as a whistle...no umbilical cord...dealing with the placenta, nothing.
