As much as I liked this episode, the pre Winter break specials, were abysmal. Four Scary Stories, for being a bad kid show's Halloween special. And Appetite for destruction, for the awkward and unfunny vaudeville root, it was going for. To be honest, the only episode I liked of this end of first half of season five, was Hotel New Hampshire. The second half starts okay, with really bad sub plots, like the return of Charlie (why?) and Joey's music career. That is fleeting and inexistant now, thanks to cut scenes due to copyright issues... There is good and bad in Jen and Dawson together. Mostly the way the Jen character is written. I wonder who had this silly idea of making her the Carrie Bradshaw of the group. And a very unflattering portrayal of post feminism. Or too accurate maybe... And that's the most bothering thing about the college years plots. They just copy paste what other dramas have done before, and during even. The series lost its way and proper identity, with storylines that are superficial and misplaced. I'm not talking about Joey's fling. It helps her grow as a person. Even if it's to make her more unsympathetic than she already was, it gives her the true college experience. With the rest of the group, barely attending classes... Good guests, including Pauley Perrette and Jennifer Morrison. And barely noticeable music changes.
