Detention introduced us to Abby Morgan. It was fun and full of interesting drama. And was exactly an homage to The Breakfast Club. But as season's arc goes, it's the only real filler this year. And can be easily skipped. Boyfriend however, has Jen's ex back from New York, Joey getting drunk, and showing her feelings for Dawson. And Jen breaking up with him. When almost all DC female characters suffered from this occurrence. The fact that all these alt.rock/post grunge songs were taken out from next season's soundtrack. Makes it lose its edge. So it's a good thing, you still have those to break from all the power ballads and acoustic beats heard throughout the episodes. Definitely much weaker than other episodes of this season. From the beginning it felt like I could've been watching any other teen drama until the final confrontation happens between Dawson and Jen. It alone deserves 2 stars from the stellar performances and writing but how nothing the rest of the episode was..I can't rate it more than 4.
