"...Must come to an end"
littlelaura184 June 2006
I recommend that every teenager should watch this emotional story. The entire series is brought together in this episode, as it shows their future lives since their childhood. The part of the story which makes it a memorable ending to the classic series, is the part when Jennifer Lindley, (michelle Williams) dies and leaves her daughter to the godfather Jack McPhee ( Kerr Smith). The series ends in an unexpected way and this adds to the great effect of the last episode. The sad part of the series is that it has to end, but it has the best ending i have ever watched. The actors and everyone behind the scenes, including the producer and the director deserve to be thanked for making such a wonderful ending to the perfect series. I watched the whole series and found that it was all made spectacularly.

The End...

Warning: Spoilers
I love this episode. It's such a good ending to a fantastic show. It's the second part of the Series Finale, which I absolutely love, as I already said.

In this episode, Jen is in the hospital, and everyone is saying goodbye, including Andie, who travelled from the hospital she's now working at. Sadly, Jen dies, which I freaking hate, it's the worst part of the episode. Jack decides to raise Jen's daughter, Amy, and Doug tells him that he wants to be together, fully. Out in the open and everything. Joey breaks up with her boyfriend over the phone, and finally decides who she wants to be with. She chooses Pacey, thank god! The episode ends perfectly, with the Season Finale of Dawson's TV show, The Creek.

Best part of the episode: Joey choosing Pacey.

Worst part of the episode: Jen dying.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Freaking Ridonkulous.

Good And Bad Parts!

Warning: Spoilers
Well the series finally had to come to and end. I watched all the seasons in order for the first time and boy was Dawson's Creek a messed up show. Very dramatic but in the end I loved the show and I got feelings for all the characters. The only reason this review gets 9 out of 10 is because Jen died. I can see why the writers would do that maybe because they needed a reason for everyone to gather back and stay in Capside or they just wanted to make the audience cry. I really think it was pointless to end off the show this way because personally it left me totally tormented. Why end such a great show off on a sad note by all of a sudden killing one of the main characters for no reason? Sure the very ending satisfied me and I was happy to see Joey picked Pacey to spend the rest of her life with but I just can't get Jens death out of my head. The show had its ups and downs, weak and happy moments. It was a fun roller coaster ride to say the least and I will watch over and over. Everyone should watch this show because it will remind them of their teenage years and triggers all kinds of emotions to your head. Pacey is by far my favorite character because I am just like him in many ways. Dawson would be the kind of friend you would always want. I am not a big fan of Joey but in the end she wasn't so bad. Jack was always the fun cool guy and I always enjoyed his presence. Jen was the one I loved. She cared for everyone, made everyone happy, was wild and adventurous, and the prettiest girl on the show. I really hate to see her go in the end it truly sucked. But I'll wrap things up now. Thanks Kevin Williamson for a great show!

Why would they end like this?

Warning: Spoilers
I mean I am not saying they should have had a classic "happily ever after" ending where all characters get married and happy forever but why would they kill of one of the main characters for absolutely no reason other than adding drama to the show? It felt like they were going for a cheap way to draw tears from the audience.

I show that sums up the emotional collar coaster many teens go on. This show high lights many important things in the life of teenagers. At one point I think this show dropped down very low and that made me stop watching up after a while it build it self back up and I loved it like I had before. a show that talks about friendship love and dreams but also deals with more serious things like drugs. teen partying and death. the 5 friends encounter a whole lot of things that I would say most teenager can relate too. I am not saying all but some parts I would say yes. this show I very much worth watching and the acting is truly great. The only thing that really bothered me was when up until the 4th or so season Dawson didn't cut his hair and then he did..the hair made him look geekier than he was and also made him look not that hot. when he cut it he looked way cuter!

Endings are important
skteosk9 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This seems to have gone down in history as a great series finale. It's hard to see why, because it's a mess, a jumble of ideas with a few good moments sprinkled in (mostly when Dawson and Joey are on screen together). It doesn't help that it was preceded by what would have been an excellent finale, with the characters all in a positive place, living their dreams. So much so that it's hard not to feel like the staff ended the show and then Kevin Williamson came along and bolted another two hours on the end.

By this point, the show really does seem to have been reduced to the level of Dawson and Pacey spending their time waiting around to see which one of them is lucky enough to have Joey, the one-time girl next door turned into rampant Mary Sue, choose them. The ending almost works by downplaying the choice. In fact, it's so downplayed that you get the feeling Williamson wrote the whole thing then tossed a coin and had Pacey in the apartment with Joey at the end.The problem is, as sweet as Joey and Pacey can be together, their rather bland chemistry doesn't come close to matching the intense bond between Dawson and Joey, and it feels like Pacey was chosen largely because he was the more popular character.(And having Dawson and Joey get married in a dream just feels like making fun of their shippers.)Maybe there's meant to be a symmetry in the fact that Dawson ends up with his dream career but loses the girl, while Pacey continues to be a loser sleeping with married women and needing his family to bail him out but still getting the girl. But it feels a bit random.Nice as it is to see Andie again, it does show that if Joey is Dawson's soul mate and Jen is Jack's, then she is Pacey's.

And Jen dies. Why does Jen die?Well, because it was a good excuse for a twenty minute weepie. It doesn't follow on from anything that came before so it's mostly just shock value. This is a character who, as Jack says, has come the furthest throughout the series, someone who has rejected her wild child past, fought her demons and emerged as a confident loving young woman.Oh, and then she dies.Well, cheers for that. Makes it all seem worth it.

Gale marries a man who doesn't speak and doesn't seem to have a name (who cares?!), and Jack dating Doug feels like the bad punchline to a six year shaggy dog story.Oh, and another joke about the fact that they gave Jen a half-sister and then spent the next three and a half years pretending they hadn't.

This wasn't a bad show but it really doesn't end on a good note.It probably went on for two hours too long.Actually, it probably went on for two seasons too long.

Unnecessary finale
DrCharlesMontague16 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
As others have mentioned, the episode prior to the two-part finale should have been where they called it quits. This finale felt so contrived and was so underwhelming I put off watching the second part for days. There were really too many details missing to jump ahead five years, and the wrapping up of all of these characters felt forced and messy, with Joey doing the Joey thing and finally winding up with Pacey after years of seemingly happily cohabitating with other guys, Dawson having his career blossom so neatly and perfectly even though we all know that would be impossible, Jack and Doug suddenly being an item (albeit the usual highly awkward item that was this show's hallmark), and the way they decided to practically murder Jen in the end. I also will never understand why they never developed that little plot with Jen's half-sister. Like, did their mother find her and drown her or something? I'm glad for this angst-ridden drama to be over, but I'm disappointed they dragged out the finale the way they did.

They.pretty much ruined the show by having Joey pick Pacey. It didn't make very much sense.
