I stumbled upon "Dangerous Mission" while on Hulu, and thought that it might be a nice film noire inspired spy drama, perhaps borrowing characters from gritty police dramas of the time, while adding a touch of international intrigue. Well, the plot of this first episode certainly did that: human smuggling, interesting international locales, etc. But, the whole thing was undone by some of the worst acting I have ever seen. It was sort of like Joe Friday or a lot of the characters on Dragnet, where you would SWEAR that they were TRYING to act woefully. Several times I laughed out loud at particularly wooden lines delivered by Maria, the femme fatale, or by Donleavy himself - who glides through this ambitious drama as a walking cliché, dooming the production with his hackneyed look, predictable dialogue and uninspired delivery. What a train wreck...
