Featured review
would you give a baby to this woman?
The big joke is that Victoria Principal's performance led to the well-you-could-almost-say satire of the scene in DYNASTY aw gee I've forgotten the details, it is so corny, but I well remember the Carrington limousine, something like a screeching halt, the crowds of people, the towering building, everybody looking up, turns out the woman holding the baby, it was a doll... Anyway, all of this blabbering by me, the point is, what a waste of potential.
Exhibit A, Vicky Principal in this episode, she is not geared for this. She goes through it and delivers her spiel, but she is not convincing. Our Lady Victoria could however - AND DID - deliver a fiery performance as the beleaguered newcomer to the Ewing household. Then the script started to go to the dogs, the first cracks showing with the very mention of the ailment neurofibromatosis - oh jeez am I spelling it correctly? - and the whole resulting baby business. Which has a place. The Ewing heir and all that. But the brood mare here and the thoroughbred racehorse over there, who do I want the camera to follow?
I think you understand my drift.
Bottom line, this season continues to flounder. There is still something here BUT IT COULD AND SHOULD ALL HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER. The halcyon days of Seasons One to Three will never return, it won't even equal Four. It's the big reason for the overall poor score of DALLAS on IMDb, if you scoop out a generic episode, well, there are hundreds, the further you go, it becomes corny, implausible, melodramatic THE MAGIC IS GONE sad but true.
Bah, bah, bah and bah!
There were classic episodes in the first three seasons... Up until where J.R. gets shot. After that, the show starts to disintegrate. Season four rides on the wave of the good work done. SEASON FIVE CAPSIZES.
DALLAS the obituary.
Getting back to this episode:
What court would give a baby to an emotionally unstable woman with suicidal tendencies? Now, then, ever? Pamela inspired lunatic developments in DYNASTY. Boring ol' Bob and looney tunes Pam, baby poor baby, bring back Kristen SHE WAS FUN!
