- Bobby Ewing: Pamela, I wish you'd think this over.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: I have, all night long.
- Bobby Ewing: And you don't think you're overreacting?
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Bobby, my mother is dead. It's hard to overreact to something like that.
- Katherine Wentworth: Pam, you should eat something. You gotta keep up your strength.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: You know, the thing is, I do love Bobby. I miss my home... I miss my things... I miss Bobby.
- Katherine Wentworth: Well, you're the one who left.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Well, I had to. And I have to stay away. As long as he's fighting J.R., nothing will change.
- Katherine Wentworth: You want him to change?
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Yes! I want back the Bobby I married. I want the sweet, wonderful honest man I fell in love with.
- Katherine Wentworth: Well, maybe I could talk to him.
- Bobby Ewing: [at restaurant] Pamela, you are building an awful big wall between us and it's impossible to talk to you through it!
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: I didn't build the wall, you did!
- J.R. Ewing: Poor Rebecca. Ironic, isn't it? As much as she hated me, she sure can't be resting in peace knowing her death is gonna help me beat Bobby.
- Walt Driscoll: [discussing further illegal oil shipments to Cuba] The time to hit 'em is now.
- J.R. Ewing: Yes, very tempting. Very tempting indeed. But moving that much oil through the embargo in one shipment... very risky proposition.
- Walt Driscoll: For me too. But I'm willing to do it.
- J.R. Ewing: Well, what the hell are you risking, anyhow?
- Walt Driscoll: In addition to a jail sentence, like you? If this doesn't go off, I stand to lose... quite a lot.
- J.R. Ewing: But not capital, and that's all that counts! I'm risking a fortune in crude and maybe all of Ewing Oil.
- Walt Driscoll: All right. But don't forget, every time we ship out there's a chance of getting caught. I'm for making it in one big load.
- J.R. Ewing: I'll make that decision. And I'll let you know when it's made.
- J.R. Ewing: The oil company Barnes-Wentworth goes to Cliff outright!... Pamela an heiress! Barnes wielding major power. When Rebecca was alive, she could temper his idiocies. Now that she's gone, he's free to do any fool thing he wants to!... Giving Barnes complete control of that company is like giving John Ross a loaded gun to play with!
- [last lines]
- Miss Ellie Ewing: [discussing J.R.'s offer to end the battle] Bobby, at least listen to him.
- Bobby Ewing: Mama, there's only one reason he's making that offer. His variance is gone and he's losing the battle.
- J.R. Ewing: That's wishful thinking, Bobby.
- Bobby Ewing: Is it?
- J.R. Ewing: I'm making it for the sake of the family, Ewing Oil, and your marriage. We're all taking a terrible beating.
- Bobby Ewing: You can save that, J.R. There might have been a time I would accept an offer like that from you, but certainly not now, because I'm ahead of you in this fight and I'm gonna whip ya. I'm gonna take Ewing Oil right out of your hands!
- [sets down his drink and storms out]
- J.R. Ewing: You heard him, Mama. I tried my best, I really did. Bobby wants all-out war. And believe me, he's gonna get it.
- J.R. Ewing: Well, it's a new day, darlin'. And the house is lighter by one sister-in-law.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Pam's left?
- J.R. Ewing: That's right. Just now. Bobby's out there mopin' in her dust.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Darling, you really seem to be worried about all of this. Are you afraid we're going to lose?
- J.R. Ewing: Sue Ellen, I am in trouble. I lost my variance. Bobby made a killing on that Wellington deal. Pamela inherited a fortune. If they ever get together again, she starts to help him, they could wield a frightening amount of clout, really.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: I've never heard you talk like this before.
- J.R. Ewing: Like I said, Sue Ellen, I'm in trouble. I just got to find a way out.
- J.R. Ewing: There's no one sadder about Rebecca's death than I am. I mean it, sincerely. But my overriding concern is winning Ewing Oil. And you know what? Pamela leaving Bobby like this is gonna muddle his mind up more than anything I could have done. And you can't expect me to be sad about that.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: It's just so cruel.
- J.R. Ewing: Well, I'm not the cruel one; Pam is. Now you just tell me why she's not standing by her husband the way you're standing by me?
- Clayton Farlow: Sue Ellen, didn't you ever realize I was in love with you?
- Sue Ellen Ewing: What?
- Clayton Farlow: I was in love with you.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Clayton...
- Clayton Farlow: Look, I'm telling you how I felt.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: I had no idea.
- Clayton Farlow: Well, that's the point Sue Ellen. My feelings for you must have been written all over my face.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: But not anymore? What changed them? Miss Ellie?
- Clayton Farlow: Partly. I do find many qualities in her that I used to think were in you.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Well, just how do you feel about her?
- Clayton Farlow: I don't think that's any of your business, Sue Ellen.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Clayton, I just don't understand.
- Clayton Farlow: Not then. And not now.
