The Little Drummer Girls ends with the female cast members, including Alicia Witt, performing Louie Louie. Earlier the same year, 1996, the movie Mr. Holland's Opus was released. In the movie, the titular Mr. Holland talks to Alicia Witt's character about Louie Louie.
The title is from the popular Christmas song "The Little Drummer Boy" with words and music by Katherine K. Davis and the most famous version is sung by the Harry Simeone Chorale. Their Christmas album "Sing We Now of Christmas" that premiered the song was the most popular LP ever sold til the 1970's.
